A peaceful mountain landscape representing clarity and a new perspective through ADHD therapy at Snyder Psychology Calgary

When your brain has a mind of its own

ADHD in adults doesn't always look like what you'd expect. It's not just about focus. It's the invisible weight of managing a brain that's always either racing ahead or refusing to start. If any of this resonates, you're not alone.

You know what you need to do but physically cannot make yourself start, then spiral into shame about it

Your mind is constantly running, jumping between tasks, ideas, and worries without an off switch

You feel overwhelmed by daily life: bills, emails, appointments, and household tasks pile up until they feel impossible

Your emotions are intense and quick to spike. Rejection stings harder, frustration boils faster, and you can't always explain why

Relationships suffer because you forget things, zone out during conversations, or seem like you don't care when you care deeply

You've been told you have "so much potential" your whole life, and the gap between potential and performance feels like a personal failure

How ADHD therapy works at Snyder Psychology

This isn't about willpower. It's about building a life that works with your brain, not against it.

Step 01

Understand Your Brain

We start with a thorough assessment of how ADHD shows up in your life: your strengths, your sticking points, and the patterns that keep tripping you up.

Step 02

Untangle the Layers

ADHD rarely travels alone. We identify the anxiety, perfectionism, shame, or burnout that's built up alongside it, so we're treating the full picture.

Step 03

Build Real Systems

Together we create practical, ADHD-friendly strategies for focus, time management, emotional regulation, and daily functioning that actually stick.

Step 04

Sustain the Change

As new habits take hold, we refine what's working and adapt what isn't. The goal is lasting confidence in your ability to manage your own life.

Life when your brain finally has your back

ADHD therapy doesn't eliminate ADHD. It changes your relationship with it, so the things that used to derail you become manageable, and the things that make you exceptional get room to shine.

  • The ability to start tasks without the paralysis, the dread, or the three-hour procrastination spiral.

  • Emotional reactions that feel proportionate. Less snapping, less spiralling, more space between trigger and response.

  • Systems for daily life that actually work: bills get paid, appointments get kept, and nothing has to live in a pile of shame on the kitchen counter.

  • Self-understanding that replaces shame. You stop asking "what's wrong with me?" and start working with who you actually are.

ADHD isn't a character flaw. It's a brain that's wired for intensity, creativity, and urgency. Therapy helps you stop fighting it and start building a life that fits.

You've already been working harder than most people realize. Now it's time to work smarter.

Evidence-based methods built for ADHD brains

We don't use cookie-cutter strategies. Our team draws on proven approaches specifically adapted for the way ADHD affects attention, emotion, and executive function in adults.

CBT for ADHD

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy adapted specifically for ADHD. We target the thought patterns, avoidance behaviours, and self-criticism that keep you stuck in cycles of underperformance and shame.

Executive Function Coaching

Practical, ADHD-friendly systems for planning, prioritizing, time management, and task initiation. We build scaffolding that works with your brain's natural rhythms, not against them.

Emotional Regulation Skills

ADHD affects emotions as much as attention. We teach strategies for managing rejection sensitivity, frustration tolerance, and the emotional flooding that can derail relationships and self-esteem.

What people ask before they start

Not necessarily. If you suspect you have ADHD but haven't been formally assessed, we can discuss whether an assessment would be helpful as part of your treatment planning. Many adults come to us already diagnosed, while others are exploring it for the first time.
ADHD therapy is specifically structured around how ADHD affects executive function, emotional regulation, and daily life. Unlike general counselling, we focus on building concrete systems, addressing ADHD-specific thought patterns, and working with your brain's wiring rather than against it.
Medication can be very helpful for managing ADHD symptoms, but it doesn't teach you the skills, strategies, and self-understanding that therapy provides. Many of our clients find the combination of medication and therapy gives them the best results. We're happy to collaborate with your prescribing physician.
Late diagnosis is incredibly common, especially for women and people who did well academically by masking or compensating. A late diagnosis doesn't make your ADHD less real. In fact, therapy can be especially valuable for processing years of misunderstanding yourself and rebuilding your self-concept.
Many Alberta insurance plans cover sessions with a Registered Psychologist. We recommend checking your specific plan for details on coverage. Our team is happy to help you understand your options before you start.
Yes. We offer in-person sessions at our Calgary location and secure virtual sessions for clients across Alberta. Virtual therapy works well for ADHD clients and removes the barrier of getting yourself to an appointment on time.

You've been managing alone long enough.
